Minky faux cathedral window?

Would minky work for a faux cathedral window quilt. I have seen it done with denim.

Minkee is a very crawly fabric. I would guess it would be hard to sew a cathedral window with it. I just sewed squares and it was hard to do. You have to pin, pin, pin! You can always try one square and see if it works.

I agree that minkee would be difficult to manipulate, but you might want to consider it for the 'window' portions

I used Minky on the back of a quilt and had nothing but shifting issues. It is extremely stretchy while denim is much more of a stable fabric.

If you have some Minky pieces already, try sewing a square of Minky right side together with a quilting cotton. Do not cut out two circles but draw the circle on a square, pin well and stitch on the line. Cut out the circle and turn it as in my Faux Flower tutorial on QB. One circle should give you an idea if it is feasible.

Just stabilise with a lightweight fusible interfacing before cutting out your filler squares. Work from the wrong side. And forget using it for anything but the filler squares

Yes, minky works for the inner part. I wouldn't use it for the outer part. I've made the one with squares (Brick Work or Windows) and the one with octagons (Denim Stars) on this page, https://www.etsy.com/shop/quiltedsunshine, with minky in the center parts. I just made one with flannel instead of denim, with the minky in the center, in the square pattern. And I've got a flannel and minky one cut out for the Denim Stars. If it gets squirley on you, you can use a glue stick or textile spray adhesive. It also helps a TON if you use a walking foot.

Thanks for the input. I think I have enough projects to keep me busy with out adding minky to the list.
