to mix prewash and nonwwash fabrics together

Would it be alright to mix prewash fabrics and non washfabrics together in a quilt? Thanks for your opinions of this question.

I always pre wash everything, I would not mix, you know your prewash will not shrink or have the color run. You never know about shrinkage or color running when you do not pre wash, your non washed may shrink at the first washing, than you face part of the quilt shrinking and part not, it may work fine with no problem but for me I'd reather be safe than sorry.

I agree... either all prewashed, or not prewashed at all (although I always prewash unless I am using precuts like jellyrolls) If you mix them, they will not all shrink at the same rate, and bleeding is always a possibility, either of which will not make you a happy quilter

I mix them routinely and have not had a problem.

I would not mix. If you're in a hurry, wash the nonwashed in the kitchen sink and just throw in the dryer for about 20 minutes.

i've mixed them many many times- since often i prewash if a fabric may bleed- some are pre-washed- others i do not worry about bleeding i at times don't bother- most of my quilts contain both- no one ever knows one way or the other when they look at my quilts-
i do always wash my quilts when the binding is done-as the last step to completion....but i see no reason to worry about mixing washed/unwashed fabrics- unless one may bleed.

I have mixed pre-and non-washed many times and no problems.

I always pre-wash my fabric. You might get away with it but you never know when that one time will be the time you mess up your quilt or your pre-washed fabric. It sure makes you sick to do all that work and have the quilt come out of the wash all messed up.

I prewash if possible, but have no issue with mixing unwashed, as in precuts, with washed. If I am concerned about shrinkage and can't wash it, I hit it with some steam.

Me too, never had a problem either.
