How about a rag quilt? a denim charm square, with a flannel or fabric square in center. 1/2" seams. Fringe seams....wash and dry in dryer to fluff (empty dryer screen four times during the dryer cycle)

Why not ask for some of his shirts, it will be totally HIS quilt. Still do as you planned with whatever design you have chosen.
I really like the circle quilt but other designs work well. |
ShannanMN--I like the red stitching you did in each block. Looks like it will be well loved.

I made 3 denim rag quilts mixed with 100% pre-washed bandana fabric. They turned out beautiful. No camera, so can't post a picture.

I would pick up a couple of gently used flannel shirts from a thrift shop and cut them into squares to use with the denim.

what pattern are you using?
I made denim quilts from my son's jeans and used flannel squares and I was happy with how they turned out. But I did that circle pattern |
My friend is making a rag quilt using denim and flannel but she was able to prewash the flannel as that tends to shrink quite a bit.
