I personally think the white will give the quilt "life" !!

It's your scrap quilt and you can do as you like. Personally I'd just mix them all together. If the "quilt police" find you and don't like it, just tell them to go away.

I love mixing my backgrounds. I think it makes the quilt more deminsional. If you use white and creames togeather just make sure you test the placement of the pieces before you sew them. When you are at a quilt show , usally the quilts with the mixed backgrounds are the one that people are standing in front of and looking at longer. It draws the eye and gives it interest, where plain backgrounds are good but does not always give you that little someting extra.

There are no no-no's for your own quilt. If you like it, then it works. Personally I mix them as long as they don't contrast too hard.

That has just about GOT to be a matter of choice. I think it works either way as long as it is balanced

In a really scrappy quilt, I use every color under the sun. And I love it. Think of clothing. I can't tell you how many times I've worn beige slacks and a crisp white shirt. So see absolutely no reason not to be able to mix them.

In the quilt I made, some of the creams were prints with bits of color on them- little swirls of blue, or pink flowers- but I didn't mix them with white.

What do you prefer?

It's a scrap - go ahead and mix. It'll look great!
