Moda Scrap Bags
1 Attachment(s)
I ordered my first one ever on Black Friday to bring myself up to a free shipping dollar amount. My order just arrived and I am so happy with my surprise bag. I received 28 strips of 2.5 width precuts. Nice color assortment.......my Dd was home when it arrived and we both agree it comes close to all matching for a scrap quilt palette. I happen to own a layer cake that matches half of my strips so I was really fortunate. I have plans for almost all those strips! https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/smile.png I took a photo so will include a picture.....
How did you fair? |
I've seen these bags on several web sites. Add to cart. Nope. Delete. And go thru the same routine when I see them on sale again. Maybe next time I'll keep them in my sharping cart....or not...lol

I always get several bags when QIAD has a good sale price. I am never disappointed. Some are all fat eights, 9 x 21 size I can pick a bag from the basket I keep them in, grab a little yardage for constant color and have an inexpensive quilt kit.

So now I am curious, when you order several at the same time do you have noticeable fabric repeats throughout or just a really broad assortment. Btw I know every order will be different. |
I can't tell you that because I don't open them sometimes for months after I get them and no way to know which packages came in together. I haven't noticed the fabric all being alike too much. I always put a note asking if possible to select different bags for my multiple purchases.

Gee. Maybe I should make some of these up and sell them, I have enough to do that.

I've bought several from different places and was really surprised that there were multiples, even after ordering months apart. Still nice for scrappy quilts

Looks like you got a nice selection of fabrics on your mystery scrap bag. I have always been afraid to order those scrap bags but I think I am convinced that I need to order when offered.

I bought them years ago when I was a beginner and was stash building. I loved them but now I have a large “fabric Collection” so I don’t buy much anymore and I try to stay out of fabric stores.
|
This is an assortment that will work well together. I keep thinking that I should do this but I immediately take them out of my cart at QiAD. Now I will reconsider.

Because you guys are just a bunch of enablers — and I needed a wee more to get free shipping — I just received a Moda scrap bag from QIAD. About 30 strips of about 30” all at least 3” wide including the selvage and all from the same fabric line. I don’t find jelly rolls to be good value, but I’m very please with this scrap bag.

Would these be good for a curved log cabin quilt? I've always wanted to do one but can never justify the amount of fabric eaten up in the seam allowances for any kind of log cabin block. How many strips usually come in a bag? I'm guessing I may have to get several bags + supplement a bit from stash yardage to get enough light/dark contrast even if I keep it scrappy, which I'd be okay with.

I buy them from QIAD when they are on sale 6 for $50. I have quite a stash of them now. In the past I have requested Civil War, 1930's, solids, and others. I am never disappointed with them.
