It would depend on the size of your borders and if you are using any sashing. If the answer is none, then looks like you are on the right track! (It's 4:00 AM here so my brain isn't functioning well, yet.)

Drawing the blocks out on paper really helps with doing the math. It helps when deciding how to use sashing & borders. Graph paper is even better.

You can even lay your 10" blocks out on the bed - 1 row across & 1 row up & down - to see how many you want to use. (overlap the edges to account for 1/4" seam allowances) Use straight pins to hold them in place when deciding the overhang.

This time of the year (back to school) go to your friendly WW store or any other and look for graph paper. You know the kind where 4 little squares equal 1". You can lay out patterns, blocks or just play while watching TV.

remember if you use 10" blocks they finish at 9 1/2" ...so if you want the 80 blocks 8across x 10 down you need to make your blocks 10 1/2".

yep, the blocks are 10 1/2" unfinished!!!

It would be 88, sounds like alot, huh? Once you get going along it is not as bad as it seems.

You're going to be 9" short on the long sides. 10 x 10 = 100. You'll need to make it 8 x 11 blocks to get your top to equal 80 x 109"

You may want to measure Mom's mattress...some are thicker than others and that would affect the drop on the sides

That's a good tip Amma. I made a king size quilt for my DD to give at Christmas. It is a little too big for there bed. Their bed measures smaller than mine. Go figure.
