I just purchased a portable sewing machine at a garage sale today for $6.00. It is old and needs a little wire repair which my husband is good at fixing. My question is how can I find out how old it is? It has the manuel with it and several attachments, which are explained in detail in the book. I saw no year on the manuel but the no. on it is R84NS-1128. Also on the shuttle slide acces plate there is a patent no. of 2,007794. The case it is in is made of wood on the bottom instead of metal. I can't take any pictures at this time but will see about getting some later. It is called Ward's Supreme Reversible Long Shuttle Electric Sewing Machine. I would appreciate any help in learning more about it. It seems to be a small machinwe but not as small as the FW's from singer. Thankyou alll so much for your responses. The Vichy Quilter

I'm not familiar with this machine, but for $6 it sounds like you got a treasure!

Does the manual have a published date someplace in small print near the front page? Sometimes that can give you a rough estimate.

Have you Googled the make and model?
