Monthly Jelly Roll Clubs?
 

Okay, I am wondering if anyone has done like Moda Jelly Roll club where they ship you one jelly roll a month? Is it worth doing the club...if who has the best price for what you are gettting?

Think of it this way.
A jelly roll contains 40 - 2.5" strips which is 2.8 yds of fabric.
In yardage that would be - say @ $9.00 per yd would cost $25.20 I estimated the $9 per yd. It probably is more.
Jelly Rolls are of course more than the amount of yardage as they factor in the cost of cutting.

I checked one Jelly Roll Club and their price is $33.50 (which is $11.96 per yd) plus $6.75 within the USA = $40.25
A jelly roll makes a top about 40"x54". So you will need more fabric to make anything larger than this.

You should always consider the type of quilts you make. I struggle with using the commercial Jelly Rolls as to be their use is rather narrow They don't usually contain enough darks, medium and lights for designs I want to do.

Then do you want one arriving in your mail box every month? Unless you use them up fast you might not be able to get the companion fabric when you do decide to use it.

Am I being discouraging enough?

I've never joined one of the clubs but I enjoy making quilts from jelly rolls. There are so many patterns to choose from. It's usually the shipping price that gets to me so I wait for them to go on sale. I love Moda's jelly rolls. Plus with their products, I know I can count on the strips being 2 1/2 inches. You could always try a club and see if you like it. If not, don't do it next year.

get a Go! and make your own jelly rolls. Cheaper in the long run and more accurate strips.

I didn't even know they had them, but since they have everything else I guess it stands to reason. I have a studio cutter by accuquilt and use that. I can buy my fabric on sale that way much less money.

I don't think I'd like someone else sending me something they think I should have and then charging me for it. I like picking out my own patterns/colors. The way I like to do things joining a club wouldn't work for me at all but that's my opinion.
