I still have the placemat bug. I did these in lighter colors and not my usual jewel tones. I still used the cats in these as well.....

How cute!! Would love it with dogs!~!

Dina 06-08-2012 03:04 PM

Now aren't those cute!! I admire you though. I made placemats recently, and they didn't do it for me at all! Yours are just perfect though!

Oh I love them!!!

TanyaL 06-08-2012 03:20 PM

I love your placemats! But I am reluctant to make ones that have that large of a design/picture because I can't visualize how they will look when they are set for dinner. Would you take a picture of yours when they are in use? I have some fabric I would like to use but have just been hesitant for fear the table won't look right when the dishes and food are all on it. Obviously you have overcome the problem.

EvelynJ 06-08-2012 03:58 PM

Those are wonderful. My daughter, Bridget, just loves the cat placemats!!

Raggiemom 06-08-2012 04:07 PM

The placemats look like pieces of art on the table and it doesn't matter that each one is different, look at these...

Hubby and I live a very eclectic life lol. The food is what matters to us and what it sits on is second nature lol..food sitting on artwork always looks great lol......you made me laugh when you said you fear that the table won't look right and if it doesn't, that would create a problem? In my world there are no such problems. All creative work is beautiful, big or small, so go ahead and dive right in, you won't be disappointed.....it will al come together.

I was digging in my stash in the novelty section and found a panel with the cats to sew together and stuff and then just the sleeping kitties. I did the mats for the sleeping kitties and made a couple of the stuffed ones to go with my antique or cloth dolls that I made now and then....like Maggie Bessie or Izanna walker types....I will upload those in a minute....

Also here are pics of my table without the placemats, showing the twister table runner and the beaded fairy on her star tuffett.

Then here is a pic of the table set for dinner or lunch witht he placemats, notice that nothing is moved, just the placemats added lol...I told you we were eclectic.

Thank you Linda, the star tuffett is just diamonds patchwork, I am working on a smaller one. I like my doll to sit on eclectic stuff too lol.....

Loved your reply to TanyaL, my thoughts exactly, could relate to your Laurel Burch placemats as years ago made 2 quilts for grandsons using this colourful fabric. and have since used the left overs for quick projects, long live diversity, your work is lovely.

Thank you ladies. I enjoy the comments. I dont' have cats but do have three dogs. I love to put cats in quilts and other things as they are such a character and always attract for some reason, I guess they have a cat magic all their own.

emlee51 06-10-2012 09:42 AM

Sue, I have fabric from year one lol. I just dip in my scrap bin and sort a few. My friends also contribute to my bin now and then, so one never know what might turn up...I do have Kaffe in my stast tho, well who doesn't? One thing I do with all my fabric, so the last, is to wash them when I get them. I remember they used to put chemicals in the fabric. I don't know if it's still done, but I still wash before storing.
