Mosaic or Inman Park

3 Attachment(s)
Hello, how would you quilt this? I am quilting on a 18 inch sit down. All I have ever done is stipple or meandering on the machine. A friend suggest 3-E quilting. I've been wondering how hard/easy it would be to ruler quilt large quilts like this. I think it would be too time consuming. Anyway, Inman Park was my inspiration and then I found a free Mosaic pattern at quilted twins. I used the measurements of the bricks, all 2 x 3 1/2 inch except the squares on the very edge 2 inch. I didn't piece it in blocks like the Mosaic pattern because I didn't want a center seam. I pieced it from one side to the other. It 108 inch square, so a King and could be turned either way. I like the bricks going side to side, not up and down. The picture on bed shows how big it is on a queen not high mattress. It swallows it-lol

How ever you decide to quilt this beautiful quilt I am sure will be perfect! It is so beautiful just to see it laid out on the bed makes it spring to life. I have no ideas on quilting this beauty but it sure is beautiful.

Pretty top! Are you in a hurry? If not, enjoy the process. I think I would do a design in each of the coloured squares, perhaps a large flower if you have a ruler foot and oval rulers. I do a nice flower design with my sewing machine and the Handiquilter large oval by marking a center point in a block and then mark the edges in 9 places. I then quilting around the oval and starting and ending at the center point as I turn the oval to the 9 positions around the square. I would show a picture but since the new format, I can’t with my IPad. I would then do a simple line down the white maybe with little leaves to go with the flowers?

Mark in 9 places or eight? The colored 'block' is about 13 1/2 in top to bottom and 15 inches wide if you looking at it with the rectangles 2 high x 3 1/2 wide-Wish I could see yours. If it's on QB can you put a link?

I mark around the square with white chalk corner to corner and then straight through the center in a cross. So it would be a total of 8 . Wish I could show you but I did the quilting after the update. The Handiquilter oval has center marks so you just line up the line of ruler with the line on the block and quilt around the oval and then rotate to the next mark.

lol-Tartan I just couldn't figure how to mark in nine places evenly. My brain can't be pushed that hard-lol- I think I understand. I don't have any quilting rulers yet, but a friend has one she offered me to try. She has the LA in a frame. I don't. Mine is in a cabinet so will be different for me. If I can't use it then she said she saved me some money which is true. I think hers is the Versa tool. She may have more. Yours may be like an orange peel shape.....I'm thinking.

However you quilt it will be perfect for this gorgeous quilt.

wowzer quilt! I'd probably just do a straight or squiggley line in white thread through the white blocks. And then maybe do something in color blocks with your rulers--like a trefoil shape. Great quilt!

No idea how to quilt it but that is one gorgeous quilt!
