Mother day came early!

Yesterday my daughter and I dropped in to Joanne's because she need stuff for a wedding she is in this weekend. I always gravitate to the fabric and low and behold----fat quarters are 75 cents! I have never seen them less than 99 cents. Well she came up behind me as I was drooling and trying to pick out a few and just started grabbing one from all different colors. She bought me 50 of them along with a few other quilty things I had in my arms. It totally blew me away and I love looking at these stacks of fat quarters!

Wow, what a daughter! Take her more often. No, I don't mean that. She is a wonderful person to do this for you. Good daughter.

That is so cool! But it isn't often that we get to buy someone something that they really want. It was probably a great thing for your daughter as much as it was for you. Sounds like a whole lot of love to me.

I hope you checked the quality of the ones she grabbed. Some of those fabric are really thin quality and wouldn't last long in a quilt.

PenniF 04-18-2015 12:47 PM

Oh...that is just SO SO sweet !!! Lucky you.....and what a wonderful daughter. Hope all's well with you and yours.

i love that price... i went to our JA which is a small store. i bought all of the yellow ones. then, i went to walmart and saw some cute ones... they matched the price and i got some music and some animal prints for my DGKs!

Maybe I'll run over there because I need some differvt Blues and greens for a wall hanging.

Don't you just love when your DD finally 'gets it'? I had been supplying my DD with baby shower quilts, burp cloths and receiving blankets for a while, never really saying anything about the cost to me (it was nice to get some of that flannelette out of my sewing room but I did have to purchase it at some point) and one day I got an email transfer that more than covered my costs. YES!! She does understand and does appreciate my efforts.

what a wonderful daughter and such a thoughtful act. enjoy them all. are they still on sale.

Anniedeb 04-18-2015 04:57 PM

I too took advantage of their 75 cent sale! I got 25 of them, and they all seemed really nice. I've had good luck with using their FQ's. However, I was not as smart as QuiltnNan, because when I bought two at Walmart I did not ask for a price match!! Oops!!

I went to JA's also but only got a few. Went to LaQS and they were 3.50 there. The quality was much, much, better but did think price was a little high.

What a marvelous Mother's Day gift. You have a very thoughtful daughter. She probably had as much fun as you did picking out the fat quarters. My daughter got married last July and moved from VA to Sydney, Australia the end of Feb. She accompanied her hubby to Singapore shortly after arriving in Australia, as he was traveling there on business. I asked if she had found any fabric while she was there (Hint, Hint), and she said she did - she found some fabric she wants me to make into pillows for her and hubby. Maybe she found something for me too, I can only hope. She is a good daughter, but after she and her DH were apart for several months before she could move to Australia, I'm sure finding fabric for mom was not a high priority and I can't blame her for that. Been there, done that. Maybe she can find some fabrics when she goes with him on any future business trips. A Mom can hope anyway. LOL.

What a super treat

FYI - a little off topic - but it wouldn't hurt to go to the "Walmart Savings Catcher" website. You have to register, etc. and then you can enter your WalMart cash register receipt and the date (has to be within a week or so) and they will search your area for better prices. If they find somebody selling something for less, they will give you the difference in an e-gift card. It only takes a few minutes and I have already saved $5+.

You must have done a good job raising your daughter. You are fortunate that she is so loving and giving.

just_the_scraps_m'am 04-19-2015 06:17 PM

how lucky is that -- i would have scooped them up for 75 cents, too!

annette1952 04-20-2015 02:57 AM

How nice! Daughters are great for popping those surprises on you aren't they? I know my daughter is forever doing things like that to the point of making me feel "almost" guilty. ( Did you notice the "almost"?)
