I am making a flannel baby quilt that I hope will be used as a floor quilt. I don't want it to be bulky. I bought the Mountain Mist Quilt Light batting, because the tag at the store indicated that it was 1/8" batting (the bag does not say).

I find the batting to have too much loft - at least 3/8". I don't like the way it is quilting.

I have used Warm and White, and think it is too heavy for what I want.

Can you recommend something else?

Thanks

If your quilt isn't too big, you could use a receiving blanket for batting.

How about another layer of flannel for the batting?

before switching to an 80/20 blend, I used Mountain Mist Light all the time. I really liked it and found it to be quite thin. Is it possible you have the batting doubled over itself? I almost did this once myself. Might be worth checking. :D

Warm and Natural is fairly thin and washes well too :D:D:D

I'll check when I get home. (I'm 700 miles away now, visiting grandkids). But I don't think so. I bought a crib size and used most of it. I did toss it in the dryer, on cool, to take out the folds. Wonder if that was a mistake.

Hmm, you may have just solved the case. I did that once too and I do remember it puffing up a bit.
