Good Morning from Germany!
Has anyone here ever used the battings Mountain Mist White Rose and/or Blue Ribbon? Could you tell me about your experiences regarding hand quilting?
As far as I know there is only one online shop here offering theses battings and I'm interested to test them for my wholecloths.
Thank you in advance for your answers!

I love White Rose. I use it for most of my quilts. It's a thin batt, and drapes well. I FMQ, so I can't tell you how it is for hand quilting. Would think it would needle well because it's a low loft batt. It comes in 2 colors, white and cream.

Mom was a hand quilter and used Mountain Mist all the time.

Andrea, I use the Blue Ribbon for hand quilting. It's my favorite cotton batting because it's a bit thicker than the lightweight Quilters Dream. The Quilters Dream was easier to needle, but it had no poof.

Thank you all for your comments! I think I should give it a try...
Janet, I know the Quilters Dream and I love it but when I see your work the Blue Ribbon must be still very suitable for handquilting.

I don't use Blue Ribbon in all my quilts - I use Mountain Mist Light (a thin polyester batting) in a lot of them. "Coxsackie Ramble" used the Blue Ribbon, though, and I had no trouble quilting it even though I used batik in the top.

I love Mountain Mist Blue Ribbon batting for machine quilting. The very first quilt I made was hand-quilted with this batting. It was not easy to hand needle. With the additional options available today, I would opt for Quilter's Dream or some other batting specifically designated as excellent for hand quilting. The look of the MM Blue Ribbon batting was wonderful; it's just that the impurities in the batting create drag for the needle.

I would suggest investing in several battings and doing a test swatch for each before choosing one to make a quilt.

White rose is 100% coton, and very clean and soft. has a very nice drape, and feel to the quilt, hand quilting is not a problem with it.

I have a friend who only hand quilts and only uses Mountain Mist (polyester batting). I guess it was one of the oldest brands according to her. I would try some different bats likes an above poster suggested.
