Moving to Ohio

My husband and I are moving to Ohio April 26th after closing on our home in PA. We are going to be in the Apple Valley area near Howard and Mount Verrnon. My sister-in-law lives there and we love the area. I have been to several quilt shops in the Millersburg area but can't wait to explore other places as well!! If any of you ladies are familiar with that area, maybe you can give me some helpful hints and suggestions or eventually meet up for lunch and shopping. Thank you!!

Hope your got your stash, machine and quilting notions packed well so when you arrive, you will have everything you need when you start up quilting again. I know that my favorite online store Fabric Shack is located somewhere in Ohio.

When you move to Ohio get in touch with me. I live in Apple Valley and I would love to have a "quilting" buddy. I am retired and I would be most happy to connect you up with some places for fabric. We have lived here for 24 years. I love it here. We moved from Hilliard which is a suburb of Columbus. Maybe we could meet for lunch. We are pretty much an hour away from most things. As for fabric here, we have a Wal-Mart, Paw Patch quilt shop and Sharons QES. I take classes for embroidery at Sharons and she also has sewing classes. I enjoy them.

Congratulations! My sister just moved from Mt. Vernon to be closer to mom and dad, but you will be in a great area.

Millers Dry Goods in Charm, Helping Hands and Zincks in Berlin, Lone Star in Mt Hope are just a few. Also one in Jeromesville I think, Country Charm Fabrics.

Somewhere Sewing is in Millersburg as well. LOTS of fabric.

Fabric Shack is in Waynesville-about an hour southwest of Columbus....wonderful shop, and lots of cute antique shops, etc. makes a great girls' day! There are several quilt shops in Columbus as well. There was an attempt at organizing a meet-up in the Cols area last year, not sure if it happened. Would be fun to try again this spring! Good luck with your move!

Private message me and let me know where on Apple Valley Drive. Let me know when you get here and we can hook up. I used to have a very dear friend that lived across the street from me and she moved away 3 years ago. We would always get together and discuss our sewing and screw ups. I saw where someone mentioned the door mouse. went there once and it took almost 2 1/2 hours to get there. There is a place in Shiloh called country fabrics. It is a wonderful place. It is about 75 minutes from here but is well worth the drive and very reasonable. When I go there, I usually hit Mansfield while I am there. Just not real impressed with Joann lately. Prices are up and quality is down. Look forward to hearing from you.

How cool to have another quilter on the Board that will be in the same location. Enjoy your new home.

Congrats on your move! We are moving into independent living in a year, so I am downsizing and cleaning out years of clutter. What a job!

Yes -- you must visit all of the stores mentioned.

I have been there absolutely love it!

Kathi in PA 04-07-2016 02:12 AM

I am so excited about this move just knowing some of you ladies will be close enough to meet up with and be able to talk quilting. Most of my friends and family here in PA really aren't as interested and passionate as people on this board. They think I'm crazy for having the amount of stash and fabric I have!! They don't understand why and that's okay because they don't quilt. They usually find it boring to go fabric shopping with me so I usually go my self, but now I probably be able to go with some of you!! Hooray for that!! Again, thanks for all your suggestions and places to go.

Kathi in PA 04-07-2016 02:14 AM

Once we are moved I will private message you with my address. Thanks and looking forward to meeting you, too!!

Check out the Shop on Canal Street (formerly The Material Girl Outlet) in Bolivar. Great selection, excellent prices, wonderful service and assistance.

I know what you mean about friends not interested in our habit. I usually go by myself fabric shopping. I look forward to having someone to go shopping with.
