I was just at MSQC last week and noticed the mats in their shops were Alvin.

Alvin mats are the best self healing mats available. I am replacing all my mats with this brand one at a time.
These protective cutting mats are made with a 3 ply resilient vinyl that heals so completely it can be used as a writing/drawing surface, even over previous cut lines. http://www.dickblick.com/products/alvin-cutting-mats/ |
It doesn't have the 1/
It doesn't have the 1/4" lines either. It just has the 1" marked. |
I have that mat - it is self healing and works just fine. If I were to nitpick, the hanging hole is about 2 inches from the edge and I run into that more often that you would think.

Very nice mat.

Has anyone tried Calibre Art cutting mat? Claims that their mats are heavier than Alvin, etc.
Heal in seconds, won't warp, odorless. http://tinyurl.com/hbdrrxe |
E-mail Missouri and ask. They are very friendly and get back to you very soon.

I don't know about the mat but did want to say that this video is awesome - really shows how to do a machine binding with a flange! Thanks for posting the video!

Personally, I don't like the mat, I had one like it, but the "new" ones are broken down in 6" square/blocks, which I would find "annoying".
