MSQC and Marshals

Back from a vacation to visit a sister in Omaha, Ne. Stopped at MSQC and Marshals dry goods on the way home. Both were great, MSQC had lots of construction going on, putting in new wide sidewalks. Loved looking thru all the shops, bought a few things. My favorite was Marshals. What awesome prices!!!! If I had a lot of money I could really go wild in there. As it is I bought 22 yards of fabric for 61.00. I will definitely be going back! We visited the quilt museum in Lincoln , Ne. Beautiful! There was an awesome display of quilts from Israel and one from China, inspiring seeing different techniques, got lots of ideas. I drove over 2000 miles over the last week, got home late last night so today is definitely going to be a lazy day, but am anxious to get started on some new projects. Have a great day quilting all!

That sounds like s fun trip with good bargains.

Tartan 06-11-2016 05:01 AM

Pictures please so I can admire your new fabrics!

quilterpurpledog 06-11-2016 05:03 AM

I want to go to those shops! I do plan to do it on our next driving trip-but not this summer. I have been to the museum in Lincoln and highly recommend it to anyone who loves fabric and quilts. It is masterfully done. I would have loved to see the featured presentation you saw. I would go there every time I go through that area if I had the chance. So, I'm glad you enjoyed your trip and you deserve a lazy day!

Mimi Sews 06-11-2016 05:08 AM

I'm envious! I would love to visit both places. Enjoy your rest then get started sewing!

Tothill 06-11-2016 07:03 AM

Oh I would love to do a road trip to MSQC, but it is a 30+ hour drive from where I live. Definitely need to plan a 3 week holiday to give myself lots of time to stop along the way.

It is on my 3 year out plan. Once I get my degree, I plan to give myself a nice holiday.

NikkiLu 06-11-2016 07:13 AM

Oh - so you went on a F.A.R.T - Fabric Acquisition Road Trip - LOL

Wish that you would have gone to Paducah, KY to see the Quilt Museum there and to the famous Hancock's of Paducah.

Mariposa 06-11-2016 07:36 AM

Sounds like you had a fun time. Hope you enjoy a nice rest, and then onto a special project! :)

QuiltnNan 06-11-2016 08:03 AM

I was there a couple years ago, so wanted to go to different places and they had to be between here and sisters.

What a fun trip! I'm not sure I could have gotten out of both MSQC and Marshalls with only 22yds of fabric LOL.

I just got back from Marshall's today! Hoffman batiks for $4.99 a yard. Beautiful. I bought a lot of that. I bought a lot of the sale table fabric for $1 yard, looks like the end of bolt fabric with some marks on it, and some pulled thread but all was at the bottom of the selvage so no big deal to me. The sale bin changes, never know what will be in it. Fabric with any flaw or dirt mark goes in the $1 bin. What is on the website is about 1/4 of what is in the warehouse.

BETTY62 06-11-2016 07:50 PM

Lucky you. Both MSQ and Marshalls are on my bucket list.

DOTTYMO 06-11-2016 10:34 PM

OH . Batik $4.99 here in UK £13.00 plus in our shops. What a lovely road trip

Ariannaquilts 06-12-2016 03:14 AM

I would love to go to both of these stores but I would definitely have to fly, no way I could be in a car that long that would mean spending most of the time resting instead of shopping.

Karamarie 06-12-2016 04:07 AM

Sounds like a wonderful road trip!

jjs56 06-12-2016 04:15 AM

MSQC is Missouri Star Quilt Co, they are in Hamilton MO. Ginny Doan is turning the whole town into quilt shops. Our guild is going on a day trip there this Wed...

duckydo 06-12-2016 05:23 AM

Are you referring to Marshall's in Batesville AR?

Bren 06-12-2016 05:24 AM

My MasterCard would probably melt! Glad you had a good time.

Yooper32 06-12-2016 05:33 AM

Wow! That is my kind of vacation.

Jo Anne B. 06-12-2016 06:51 AM

MSQ is on my list for this summer, guess I need to add Marshall's!!

mhollifiel 06-12-2016 07:57 AM

My late DH spent 3 hours waiting patiently while I shopped in Marshalls. Got 7 bags of amazing bargains! DH asked why I didn't get more. Sweet thing was a terrible fabric acquisition enabler. Have used it all! Need to find simpatico travel buddy to go back!

sewbizgirl 06-12-2016 08:06 AM

I've yet to go to Missouri Star, but I LOVE Marshalls. I go at least twice a year, tho it's 6 hours from me. I stay overnight in Memphis at my daughter's, which is halfway. They have great prices on batting by the roll, too.

They haven't had Hoffman batiks before... will have to check that out!

pal 06-12-2016 08:07 AM

What a dream vacation!!!!!!!

The quilt name brand quality fabric is to the right when you walk in on the shelves on the wall that go down the length and width of the building. Hoffman is at the end near the corner. I could spend several hours in that one part of the warehouse. I say warehouse instead of store because it is an old warehouse, no expense spent to make it pretty. LOL. but once inside, it's fabric heaven.

darlin 06-12-2016 10:22 AM

where is Marshalls please

Onebyone 06-12-2016 10:25 AM

Google Marshall's Dry Goods for information.

Jeanette Frantz 06-12-2016 03:37 PM

Marshall's wholesale is where my fabrics for the Log Cabin Quilt (Marbleicious prints) came from. The fabrics are really very nice fabrics and the prices -- I don't think they can be beaten in many places! If I ever go through there, I'll have to have a banker and a semi -- a banker to pay for the fabrics, and a semi to haul the fabrics in! LOL! Jeanette

Marshall's is located in Batesville, AR.

Scakes 06-12-2016 04:00 PM

Fun trip! One of these days I'd love to visit both places.

kydeb 06-12-2016 04:36 PM

My sister and I are planning a trip to Marshall's when she retires in a couple of years. I throw "fabric" money in a jar saving up! I'm glad to hear that you loved it!

twinkie 06-13-2016 02:44 AM

Sounds like so much fun. Wonderful that you got to go.

Onebyone 06-13-2016 06:58 AM

Marshall's is a fabric distributor. I see many quilt shop vans in the parking lot and see them loading up the van with bolts of fabric. They also ship to quilt shops. If you sign up for the rep's wholesale email you will know what the shops are paying for bolts of fabric. The newsletter will show all the new fabric lines and the price.

betty32084 06-14-2016 04:52 AM

we have a Marshall's here in St Augustine, but its not a dry good store-(just clothing and housewares) I think dry good stores in Florida went out when Disney came in.
