MSQC mini kite template

That was offered for free a few days ago....I recd it yesterday along with the papers I ordered for that size and tried it. It's ok, gets good points, but all the edges are bias and just thinking of making gobs to make a quilt, or even a few for a tablerunner made me step back.....I recently bought the kite die for my GO,so I thought I would try it out as a comparison. Well first thing I noticed...a bit bigger block-8" / 5".... Ok. Kite a bit thinner on die than MSQC template, ok too. Good thing....directs you to place fabric for sides so that biases are not on outside edge...very good, in my mind.........

I am only telling you this so those who ordered be aware of edges........

I found if quilt pieces have bias edges and I need a lot of them, I fuse a featherweight stabilizer to the fabric before cutting. No stretching at all. I have the Go Kite die too and I like it a lot.

I love the general designs of the MSQC quilts, but personally don't care for the fact that her techniques often result in bias edges. Many people don't have problems, but I do. I just adjust her patterns & cut my fabric so the block edges are on the straight of grain. I've made several of her quilts this way and they came out just wonderfully!

I have done this before to stabilize a side. I really like having the lightweight fusible interfacing that I bought a whole bolt when I had a JAF coupon. I agree with PaperPrincess too that I don't like having to deal with so many bias edges. It is just NOT worth the hassle.
