I want to make some mug rugs and I'm wondering what size I should make them. Or can I make them any size I want to.
|
I usually make mine 5!/2 but you could make them any size you want.
|
Any size and every size. Depends on what you intend to do to them or with them. For example, are you including a pocket?
|
I usually make mine about 5 or 6 X 9 or 10" but you can make them any size!!

Mine vary from 5x7 upwards to smaller than a placemat. It's often determined by the fabric sizes I'm using, the pattern I choose, or how I think it'll look best! And sometimes it's based on the piece og leftover batting I am using!! :) |
I would say at least 5x5, but any size you want to make would be good...and they don't have to be square, they can also be rectangular.
|
I make my mugrugs from leftover quilt squares....anywhere from 6x6" and up.
|
Measure what you would like to place on it, and go from there :D:D:D

What is a mug rug?

Mug rugs are made like Coasters... only they can be Quilted in any shape or size... good way to use up scraps of fabric..Have to check out what they put inside, don't want them too puffy or liquid to go through...? I have seen some at a craft sale that were selling for $2:50 each... simple piecing... and if you are using scraps - NO cost .
Square ones, round ones, rectangles etc.. Hey any shape ...bind edges in contrast or matching colors/fabric. |

Depends on your pattern but I love using the 5" Charm Squares!
