a Mug 'Hug' is a quilted 'jacket' for your mug. You can either use Velcro or a button (or anything you want) to secure it around your mug. You just have a Tab that goes through the handle.

mug rugs are just a new name for coaster really. some are square, some hexagon, etc. And some rectangle to hold a cup and perhaps a cookie. your choice! some have binding, some are turned.

That would drive me absolutely crazy, making a pretty thing like that and having a buttery cookie on it or drips from the cup or a teabag. I have the same reaction to a quilt used as a tablecloth in a magazine. Just want to yell "noooo!"and run up and rescue it. But that's just me. :)
