1. No matter how much of a particular fabric you have for the quilt you want to make, you will always be 1/2 yd short.
2. Even if you own 200 shades of blue thread , you will not have the one that matches the project you are starting. 3. If you have a piece of fabric 10" wide and need five 2" wide strips you will cut one of those strips 2 1/2" wide and be short 1 strip. 4. The cat will choose to nap only on the quilt you made for your sister w/ allergies. 5. That fabric you need more of to complete the quilt in #1 above was discontinued last month or they just sold the last piece right before you got to the quilt shop. 6. You will always run out of bobbin thread 1" before the end of the last border. 7. As you put the final stitch in the binding of her Barbie quilt, you hear your granddaughter say "Barbie is for babies . I want Lord of the Rings quilt. 8. The scissors and pincushion, even if you have six of each, are always on the other side of the room. You will not discover this until you sit down. 9. That fabric you need more of for the quilt in #1 is back in production , but it is a new dye lot and does not match what you have. 10. I experienced the joys all of them!
Boy does that sound familar! :D
I'm having flashbacks...lol. Aren't those the truth! Thanks for sharing! :)
#'s 1, 3, 5, 6, 7 & 8 . . . been there, done that!
And I thought I was the ONLY one who had these problems!
Did you write these bebe? They are great! I laughted the hardest at number 8. Getting up and down isn't as easy as it used to be!
I have lived through all 10
I would add one more.
You shop several stores for fabric and now you are short and cannot remember where you bought it. Living in a small town all of my stores are at least 30-90 miles away. |
Ladies,
I myself have experinced one or another at one time. It is so frustrating but so true. Your stash can never be to big. I have sat down to figure out what I need is out of my reach so therefore; I have to get up get myself all out of whack and then need to start all over!!Bummer!!!! I found these in a quilting magazine I was reading and got a good laugh out of them because they are so true!!!(hehehehehehehe) Bebe |
wow, I needed a good laugh. Thanks! :D
found this in the random tops. I have not seen this.. so it is new to me..
Yes yes yes.. gritting my teeth on a few.. so true !!! 1/2 short fabric is Horrible !!! Ellen |
Oh sew true
I have experinced all the mistakes staed that a quilter can make.
So true    :( |
Amen!!
been there, done that----glad I'm not alone--the worst one is needing more of a particular fabric that has been sold out.....
Number 8 made me think of this.
I have been thinking a lot lately about the hereafter. I get up to go get something in the next room, and when I get there, I FORGET what I am here after. Anne |
Been there done that.....relate to all.....
 That's how I get my exercise, getting up to get something.
I think they were written with me in mind! LOL I have expereinced every one of them, but especially the one aobut the pin cushion across the room :!:  Every time :!:
yep.... I can relate to many of those too!!!!
I could add one more. Take your quilt top to your quilting club to show and the first one that looks at it sees a boo boo.
I relate!
oh how true
Should have it printed up and put on the wall!!
Cut a whole bunch of blocks out to be ahead and easy to take to a retreat weekend - and - then decide you really don't like the design. Just did that. lol.
Anyone else? |

This theory works with drapes as well. I needed 21 panels for our sunroom. Off to Hancocks and back home with 25 yds of fabric. It was wide so I was able to split it in 1/2 to double my yardage. It was my first attempt and success with sewing by exact measurements. (I am fighting my ability to be a hit or miss!). My theme was solid panel, floral panel, solid panel. I remember thinking, as I cut the last solid panels "Oh, I am so glad I didn't need anymore or I would not have had enough material". We have looked everywhere there is to look and I am short 2 solid panels. Two of my windows have solid/floral and the other two have solid/floral/solid. No one has noticed! All is well that ends well. One of the 3 doors. read it again and it is so true!!!!
If it was easy, would it be as much fun?
Yup - agree with ALL of them!!
Have to agree with everyone. Been there done that--over and over. Just call me Mrs. Murphy. lol
