Thank you all so much for your replies! I did not buy my white on white at Walmart, it was from a quilt shop but however was from flat folds as I wanted several different varieties and they had them. It may be too thin but it is a beautiful fabric.
What I am doing is Making southwest pottery pots, they will be placed over a two color block that makes up "the wall and floor of house" then on top of the pots there will be more applique to make the designs and colors of each different pot. This may sound confusing; but the batting will be behind the wall and floor block and the white on white (and some tans etc.) on top of the wall/floor. I am playing with the idea of some way of adding the "trapunto" look under the white on white as I had really wanted to trapunto the pots anyway, just trying to figure out the best way of not having too much bulk interfere as this will be hand applique not machine. Again many thanks, you people are the best! Antylu
P.S. I will definitely look into the fabrics mentioned that are densely woven.
