Must see places in Lancaster PA Area

DH and I are planning a week long camping trip through the Ephrata/Lancaster PA area. Any suggestions on places not to miss as a quilter?

OMG there are so many Amish shops where you could get so many ideas from the finished quilts that they sell. Any shop will also direct you to other quilt shops at least that was my experience the first time we ever went. Have fun and make sure you check out the little shops that may sell antique quilts my friend got a beauty for 25 bucks!

My DH and I took a trip thru the Lancaster area and it was wonderful. Just take in as many quilt shops as you can (and there are many). Also, there are many places that have beautiful quilts hanging on clothes lines outside and then some amish will take you in there homes and they have a bed turning of quilts they have made and are for sale. Just enjoy and have a safe trip.

We just got home from there. Go to the Railroad Musuem an d also take a ride on the steam engine. We had a blast! We did not have time to really stick around to explore. We were hitting museums on our trip. have fun! Report back!

make sure to check out all the quilt shops. they have a lot of awesome fabric there. I went for the weekend one time while staying with my daughter on long Island, NY. Wish I could go again. would not be able to do all the walking i did then.

Below is a link to many quilt and fabric shops in the area. I have been to many of them. Zooks and Old Country store are across the street from each other in Intercourse and there are other types of shops in the same area of Intercouse. Plenty of parking there, too.

You might enjoy eating at Millers on the east side of town. It's a very complete buffet and the food is very good including many Pennsylvania Dutch dishes.
There is a small museum in Lititz which is in the area. Link to Lititz guide:

There are also outlet stores, two sets of them on Lincoln Highway. If you go that way to Millers, which is further out of town on the same road, you will pass them.

I'm sure others will mention other things you should see.

Bird in Hand, PA, is he heart of Amish Country....been there, farmers market, shops etc. The People's Place Quilt Museum in Intercourse, PA is a great place. Since I am Mennonite I have been to that area several times and those are two of my recommendations.
