I have ordered my AG and went to Joanns to get a stirp die and mat with a GC from family. When I came home I realized I had a self healing mat that I was about to toss. I wonder, can I cut that to the right size and use that as mats for the AG dies? Would it hurt the machine?

Thanks, I can't wait to get started!

post your question on the Accuquilt Yahoo Group. Someone there will probably have your answer.

It's not recommended.

Using anything other than products manufactured specifically for the GO will likely void your warranty.

I've used the old self healing mats I cut to fit and it lets me cut more layers at a time because it's thinner then the Go mat. You need to add more fabric layers so the dies will cut. I use the regular Go mats for most cutting but I know the rotary cutting mats will work until I get a new Go mat. I don't baby the thing. I use it and I don't mind experimenting.

But, you realize using a product in a way that it wasn't designed for, will void your warranty right? Quite a few people lately are breaking their GO's by using them incorrectly and not reading directions! I for one, wouldn't be giving out advice that will add to the numbers of people having problems or suggesting ways to void these warraties.

I wasn't giving advice, I stated that I have used rotary cutting mats in my Go. My Go is about three years old. I'm not concerned about the warranty. If others need the warranty then yes, they should follow the guidelines to not void the warranty.

Thanks, I didn't think of that. I won't do it.
