After poking around this site today, I realized I should have started with the "Introduce Yourself" section -- too late! I've spent so much time here the last several days that I'm almost a regular already! But I did want to explain my avatar -- it's a small crazy quilt made from scraps from my first nine quilts which were made many years ago for my son, daughter, and seven grandchildren. Their name and the year each quilt was made is embroidered on each square. The blue one in the middle was my first quilt. My mother cut most of the squares and apparently got bored with the project and packed it away. I found the box of squares several years after she died and finished the quilt. I've been addicted to quilting ever since!

Welcome to the Board. Love your avatar. Scrappy are the best! I'm in Enterprise, what part of Louisiana are you?

Belated welcome. What a great memory quilt you have. Please record the history of your quilts along with a picture. Someday it will be appreciated.

Baton Rouge. I don't think I've ever heard of Enterprise and I've lived in Louisiana most of my life! Where is it?

As soon as I figure out how to do close ups with my camera, I will -- I'm somewhat technically challenged!

That's really sad. My mother was not really a quilter -- which is probably why she became bored with the blue quilt -- but she made all of my sisters and my clothes when we were growing up and most of her own. And she made lots of curtains, slipcovers, pillow covers, etc. etc. In fact most of the blue fabric in the quilt came from something she made.
