Sell my home in NY so we can permanently move into new hse in DE. The 5 hr drive bk and forth mthly is killing me. though after a yr of doing it I'm on auto pilot. That the eye specialist I'm taking my cat too can cure his issues forever instead of always having to put drops in his eye daily really ties you down. For me...a SWEET SIXTEEN now that I have the rm in the new hse. |
DH retired and he learned real quick I wasn't going to cater to his 'boredom'. I had quilt guilds, workshop, retreats, volunteering, and other community groups that kept me busy. He never wanted to go anywhere so I left him home. He is now happy woodworking and he does most of the shopping and enjoys it. He bought a grill and smoker and makes delicious meals.

My wish list was and is, A Juki Straight Stitcher (Christmas) and I received my birthday gift (10/5) of a Quilt cabinet from DH and DS early. (To store my finished quilts.) I don't have many. I have been quilting since 2007. But, gave away most of what I made. I had a few finished this year. So, I look forward to filling it. It's only a Ikea cabinet. But, it fit my want. And, I saved half for the Juki Straight Stitcher. So, looks like I will be getting that also. I need to hit Goodwill and see if I can find a table to mount it in. My DS will do that for me. Past that, I'm pretty good. I do need a new cutting mat. But, I can still use what I have for now till next year.

mine are not really sewing related but sure would help me on quilting projects: a gift certificate for weekly massage by an excellent masseuse (sp??) in our town (ok, I'd settle for every other week!) and someone to come in about once a month and really clean my house--I do a lousy job of keeping up (quilting is soooo much more fun) and DH not too willing to clean either!

That’s great that he took up a few hobbies and found household tasks he enjoys. I think some people (especially men) center their attention on business/work and once they retire they are lost. Boredom is a killer, whether it be the relationship that suffers or actual death. |
