Somewhere (not sure if here or not as I couldn't find the thread) I read a tip to try when washing long pieces of fabric. The tip was to safety pin (rust resistant) the selvedges together down the length of the fabric.

Well, it's a great tip! I just washed a 4-yard piece and it came out beautiful! Very few wrinkles and no twisted up mess! I'm going to wash all of my long yardage this way from now on. If you haven't tried it, give it a shot. I bet you will be pleasantly surprised! :D

I started doing this about 5 years ago after taking a quilt cruise & it was suggested then. I accordian pleat my fabric about 18" widths & then put 3 pins across the top.....take it out of the washer...give it a shake...plop it into the dryer....take it out...give it a shake ....and either press or fold & put on the shelf!

That sounds even easier! I'm going to try that too! Thanks for sharing.

thanks. I wish I could take credit. One of our neighbors craved it. I just love the little pumkin in the mouth of the big pumkin.

He had this guy in his pond.

Boy am I happy to find out about this. I buy most my fabric in multiple yardage and dread washing and drying it. Thanks!

Thanks for that tip I've got about ten yrds of flannel to wash an
I hate ironing material.the way i get material some times i'm washing ten to fifteen yrds of material at a time an I happen to have a whole bunch of them safty pins.so this will come in handy.there times i get material for $.50 a yrd or less an i love them buys but hate the washing an then ironing all that material.

I have done this before and it is great. It is amazing how nice the fabric comes out of the dryer. It does take a little time to pin if you have a lot of yardage but it is well worth it.
