Quilts! Quilts! Quilts! by Diana McClun and Laura Nownes - I prefer the "first" version to the revised version for beginners - because the quilts use fewer fabrics

Pattern Play be Doreen Speckman

I've actually READ and done from these two books

What are yours?

Also, which ones do you thing were a complete waste of money?

My absolute favorite, you-cannot-pry-from-my-dead-cold-hands quilting books are:

ALL 4 of Karen McTavishes quilting books. They are awesome!:

Quilts of a Different color

and Quilt Savvy Guide to Machine Quilting with Diane Guidensky (I've butchered her name here, but you know who I'm talking about).

Talk about drooling...when I open these books I sit and stare in utter awe. The pictures alone are worth it!

Quilters Catalog by Karen Cox

Although it only has a few patterns, it makes a wonderful read, full of information on all aspects of quilting. Written in an easy to read style I keep this one handy for reading every once in a while.

Being a visual learner, I am continually referring to "The Quilter's Ultimate Visual Guide" by Ellen Pahl and any of Eleanor Burns books as they are also well illustrated and written for anyone to understand. For machine quilting and a myriad of other useful quilting info, I rely on Harriet Hargrave's "Heirloom Machine Quilting."

I haven't had the misfortune to find any books that didn't deliver something useful for me.

Great topic!
