Please help, I am having some serious fun here on a Saturday night working away on my denim rag quilt - everything is cut, ready to go, baby is asleep, having some wine listening to oldies and...
all of a sudden my fabric is not moving along, I see the feed dog(s - is it plural?) have dropped. I move the switch back and forth but it is not moving them back up. I unscrew the back of the machine (okay pretty linty and have cleaned it up) but can't get them to stay up. I can maneuver them up with a screw driver by pushing on a metal "thing" from the back but they don't stay. I have a Kenmore - nothing too fancy, I was using a fancy stitch when this happened. please help... sniffle sniffle. :-(

Sorry I can't help you, I had that happen on my Husqvarna & had to take it to the repair fellow, it wasn't expensive to fix, but it sure was hard to be without my machine. Hopefully someone will come up with a quick fix for you.

I did a quick search to see if there was any info out there... I found something that said that they don't click back on until you start sewing and then I seemed to remember that from experience. I put the poor machine back together and sure enough they are up and running. Not sure why they fell but whatever I cleaned out and pressed up to "reset" worked! yippeee me.
I haven't been a member here long but thanks everyone for making me feel that this was the place to come running for help in my time of need!!!!
:D :D :D

Ilena...I have a Kenmore and the first time that happened to me it threw me into a panic also! I was THIS close to calling the Sears service line when I finally found it in the book what to do! LOL So you are not alone!

Ilena, when I first got the e about the topic I couldn't help but smile..it sounded like a punch line.....but to find out it was a real problem and we have people who know and can help, that was even better. Maybe next time we can come up with a joke or some humor to fit those antagonising blips in our quilting routines. I daresay we can all think of one or two. Keep on sewing sister! and don't forget to post your picture when finished...we'd love to see it. :D

Sandra, I saw the same punch line and grinned like a Cheshire when I saw the topic...........but I'm glad you got all the lint our and got back to having the 'dogs' work, Ilena! I was on awhile last night but when the lightning started for second time, I went to bed with needle and thimble to work on the big quilt.

Isn't it good to have a wonderful place to come for help???
