Last night I tried to sew simple cotton layers (string quilt, so just foundation plus 2 layers cotton, no batting at this point), and my feed dogs just seemed to not want to pull the fabric.

I cleaned underneath, and played with the tension, and got it a little better, but still not good.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

can you change the pressure of the foot. maybe it got changed somehow

Sometimes the feed dogs "themselves" get full of stuff. It's hard to see, but if you'll take them out or just brush on them good, sometimes that works

Can you remove the needleplate to have a look? Mine gets gunged up with fluff a lot.

can you clean them with a small brush?...I keep a child's toothbrush for this...

Yep...mine had practically frozen...I took off the faceplate, and there was TONS of stuff packed in and around the dogs. Not good!!

Ditto to this. I keep one of my daughters old toothbrushes for this. Works great.
