My First Pinwheel--What's Next
 

I have 20 pinwheel squares put together. I'm trying to decide whether to sew them altogether or whether to put sashing. If I don't add sashing and add 3" border all around the quilt would be only about 38" long. But I'm nervous about getting the sashing correct.

it's easier to get the sashing to line up correctly if you use cornerstones. looks great so far

Yes, sashing would show them all off individually. Great job.

or you could alternate with some solid squares to get some size.

make sure you square up each one 1st.....some look pretty wonky,love your colors.....

Sashing with cornor stones would look nice!

Definitely sashing. Looks good. Just square up your squares and add strips to the sides first, then long strips across if you choose not to do the cornerstones. Also a nice boarder would make it complete. Good luck with it.

Way to go!! I love your pinwheels. Sashing is NOT hard at all...just straight sewing. You'll be proud of yourself after doing it. :-) Would you like a bigger quilt? Add a few more pinwheels, sashing, and and a border and you've got a nice lap size quilt.

Personally I would sash them.

It is certainly easier if you use cornerstones with the sashing. If not using cornerstones I add the horizontal sashing to the blocks, sew the blocks together for each row, then add the vertical sashing to the bottom of each row & press well. Lay on table then place my ruler along the sashing seam line for row 1 & row 2 & pin where they should join. Continue in this manner until all is complete. Works well for me.
