The barn wall hanging with pix of my family is in the works....

I am finding it challenging as I describe myself as a quilter w/ ADHD.....

Here is what we have so far

I know the silo is a bit crooked but am telling myself that's what makes it mine!
I have learned that I should use pins if I want things to line up....and it hurts to stab yourself with the seam ripper...

Thanks for peeking....

jbsstrawberry 07-14-2008 12:53 PM

Ahhh I wanna help build a pirate ship!!! Yo ho ho and a bottle of root beer!!! Where's my eye patch when I need it!

Kyiav10 07-14-2008 01:18 PM

Keep up the good work. Can't wait to see more.

How did the pirate ship turn out. I bet that was fun! Nice block.

Celeste 07-14-2008 04:52 PM

Lookin' good! I see you're a lot more adventerous than I - my skies are 'one color'.

What size is the picture in the barn door?

Marcia 07-14-2008 05:57 PM

You are certainly adventurous for your first project!!! I think the picture of you in the barn door is great. Keep up the good work

You are certainly adventurous for your first project!!!
That's what I said! Angie mentioned to me--in our many emails--that she was

winging
it--and I told her, ever so gently, (right drivin'?) that many patterns--this one in particular--needs a bit of presicion.

I think she should try crumb squares next--Ang--you will love those. :D Except she doesn't have enough fabric yet.... well--for a few squares....

But--on with the barn quilt! Are you planning on making wall hangings, or a quilt?

Flying_V_Goddess 07-14-2008 06:48 PM

Not bad for your first project. Keep up the good work.

mgshaw 07-14-2008 06:49 PM

Very cute! Your doin' great! The first quilts I made were machine applique baby quilts, then my first pieced quilt was a double wedding ring, So after that everything else has been a piece of cake! You get this done and you got "er whupped!!!

lol. I think you're right 'cause I think I'm going through the same thing. My very first quilt was just a simple Nine Patch (with "filler blocks" in-between) baby quilt. Then I moved right into this big denim quilt (oh my God, that thing was heavy!) and that one turned out nice and I still had some sanity left. So I'm working on the Tsunami quilt right now and its surprisingly easier than I thought...I think everything's become a piece of cake after that big ol' denim quilt.

sewnsewer2 07-14-2008 07:24 PM

Cool! I like the way you put the pic in the doorway.

drivin*me*buggy 07-15-2008 01:47 AM

thanks everyone...Although I have worn a path from my kitchen table to the computer to email Karla for help-I am having a good time.

I had to choose this project since Karla wouldn't make me one LOL

The picture is about 3.5" which ended up being a bit big...thanks to Karla's fearless guidance I added a deeper seam.....and it fixed it.

Oh and the pirate ship turned out great!

Angie

today I tackle trees after I feed the horses and run.....

barnbum 07-15-2008 02:15 AM

I have to say...I was going to give the latest barn one to Angie--but then she mentioned making one. I laughed and kept it going to my niece-- it's so much more fun for her to have HER horse in there rather than mine.

I love your bravery and perseverance!! Awesome qualities. :D

Hey--does that tie in the the training donkeys thing?

reneebobby 07-15-2008 02:27 AM

Very nice and who cares if your barn leans a bit since it survived a MAJOR storm. Great job.

Tigerbaby1981 07-15-2008 04:15 AM

WOW! great job on your first project so far. Cant wait to see more pics :) I dont think I could attempt that one.

beachlady 07-15-2008 04:31 AM

That is so cute and I am sure the wind has blown the silo to the side!! I also think it is a hard 1st project and it looks just great.

drivin*me*buggy 07-15-2008 04:47 AM

Wish me luck- I am trying the trees this am.....pix later today :)

Angie

Roben 07-15-2008 05:39 AM

That is so cute! Just tell everyone it is an Iowa silo - we've had so many storms this year, everything is leaning

Chele 07-15-2008 05:53 AM

drivin*me*buggy 07-15-2008 10:10 AM

ok...here is the update for today....

I made 3 trees w/ Karla's help and advice LOL then I ended up attaching a tree block to the left, a tree block to the barn and decided where I want the other 2 pix to go.....

I probably wont get to work on it for 2 days since we are putting on a deck....but stay tuned on Friday LOL
