My Goodwill super-bargain!

Today I stopped at Goodwill and hit the jackpot! I got 10 pieces of fabric, totaling 45 (yes, - 45) yards of fabric plus a king size batting for a total of $15!!!!! Yippee!

I was going to post a picture of the fabric, but I can not figure out how to post it using my iPhone!

MaryMo 05-08-2012 07:07 PM

congratulations! You did super good. someone there missed the value of these items. you have lots of future projects there!

harrishs 05-08-2012 07:07 PM

Good for you, don't you just love the Goodwill.
Let the quilting begin, enjoy.

Pickles 05-08-2012 08:51 PM

Wow sounds like you really did hit the jackpot, Congrats!!

Quiltaddict 05-08-2012 11:43 PM

I never find fabrics at the Goodwill stores here, but there prices on other stuff seems to be really high. I have had some luck at Amvets as they have half price sales all the time. Congratulations on your great find. Looking forward to seeing the pics.

Great find!!!

Lori S 05-09-2012 07:56 AM

You did really well , just the batting alone would have been more than $15.00 ( depending on fiber) . What a fabulous find, bet you go back there again ..soon.

Beachbound 05-09-2012 08:00 AM

yipee!!!! I've heard that JoAnns donates fabric to GoodWill but I have never found any like that. I did get about 12 yards of a summery bird print for 6 bucks once. I may not have bought it at the store but for that price it certainly came home with me!!!

TexasGurl 05-09-2012 08:49 AM

Have fun with it ! I never find ANYTHING like that at Goodwill ... must be someone working at ours who sews or quilts !

mimiof4 05-09-2012 03:50 PM

You were fortunate our local Goodwill and Salvation Army stores are high on fabrics. It kinda ticks me off sometimes thinking everything is donated to them. I wonder about people who are shopping there because they have to.

LynnVT 05-09-2012 04:08 PM

We have several local quilt shops but no good thrift stores around here. Lucky for you! Oh, when I take pics on my iPod I usually email them to myself, then open with my computer to post or whatever.

Ms Grace 05-09-2012 04:38 PM

wow! Now that's a great find!

wolph33 05-09-2012 05:32 PM

mama's place 05-09-2012 06:01 PM

They never have any fabric at our Goodwill! BooHoo

HummerGardenCrafts 05-09-2012 06:06 PM

Great deal!

tlstick 05-10-2012 03:05 AM

I brought back over 400 pounds of fabric from Goodwill, 99 cents a yard. Being a snowbird payed off there as our Goodwill at home will not except fabric. It took 7 extra large spaceage bags to get it home.
.

homecaregiver 05-10-2012 03:29 AM

I hit a very good bargain at a garage sale last week. I got 2 of the grocery bags from walmart of fabric, one piece was more than 6 yards, a very nice paisley. plus quite a bit more of a yard or two and lots more for only $5.00 and the lady knew what she had because she is or was a quilter. Great buy.

Sewfine 05-10-2012 04:07 AM

That a real good find.

Scakes 05-10-2012 04:31 AM

Sounds like a great day at the Goodwill Store. Enjoy your fabrics!

hoppa 05-10-2012 04:49 AM

you sure scored big time

Jingle 05-10-2012 05:41 AM

WOW, what a good deal. Our Goodwill doesn't have anything that is very good. The good stuff must go somewhere else and we get the junk.

needles3thread 05-10-2012 06:53 AM

WOW, what a find. How many different fabrics? Big pieces of yardage? Nice.

urgodschild2 05-10-2012 08:27 AM

If you have an iPhone can't you just send it through the cloud and stream it into your computer. That is if you have the iPhone 4s. I live in So. CA and our goodwill has no fabric. SIGH

gmavis 05-10-2012 08:55 AM

on regular cell phones that you have texting on, you can put your email addres in the contact information.
[email protected] I email pictures to myself, then save to my hard drive, then I can upload them to facebook or where ever I want to send them.
good luck.

Elaine433 05-10-2012 10:50 AM

You did great. I never find bargains like that. Lucky you!

quiltingshorttimer 05-10-2012 01:40 PM

I keep reading how people get these fantastic buys at the thrift shop or a garage sale or an auction--do I live in the wrong part of the world?? I never see these buys

EvelynJ 05-10-2012 03:07 PM

Standing ovation for you! 45 yards, that is a miracle from God.

emlee51 05-10-2012 04:46 PM

I went to Goodwill today and bought 2 pieces of fabric totaling about 8 yards for $4.50. Congratulations on your find. I did pretty good but you did much better.

Christine- 05-10-2012 07:33 PM

I just bought the book "Scraps and Shirt-tails" and our Rescue Mission thrift store has 8 bins FULL of button down shirts for 25 cents each. You know where to find me tomorrow!!!

Dee 05-10-2012 08:20 PM

All smiles for you. Wish our goodwill had that kind of a deal.
