My Great Find at the Thrift Store Today

1 Attachment(s)
I went to buy a couple of lamps for lighting in my sewing room. got my lamps and on my way to the check out this little beauty caught my attention. I knew instantly what I was going to do with it:

1. use it to sort strips for my Bargello that is in the planning stag
2. Use as a quilt rack.

Best part it was 50% off day at the thrift store and I got this for....wait for it............$2.00 !!!!!!!!!!! Woo Hoo

Great deal! I was at a couple of thrift shops today too. They were having 50% off too. I didn't find anything I needed to bring home with me!

What a great find. You did good!! I have one of those wooden clothes racks that folds up flat. It is used to dry clothes on. I use it for strips of fabric when I strip piece, or to hold the strips ina jelly roll after I open it. You can spread them out and get a better look at what you have. They are very handy.

Congratulations! I too use an antique drying rack for my fabric and strips when making a quilt. It folds somewhat flat and can be stored. I really like the size of yours-what a good find!

That is a great find. I love the idea of using it for Bargello strips!

Latrinka 07-09-2012 04:20 AM

Great deal!

Sewfine 07-09-2012 04:28 AM

That is a bargain.

quiltntoday 07-09-2012 05:09 AM

Way to go!! It's great that you will have several uses for it. When you're not using it for quilting you could put it in your laundry room and drape delicates or shirts on it to dry! What a great bargain you got!

callen 07-09-2012 06:28 AM

Excellent organizing item. I have my eye out for one of those too. I'm glad you found yours and got it for such a bargain. I use liquid starch on my fabrics and would love something like this to hang the fabric up to dry. I would figure out a way to do it so that the wet fabric is not in contact with the wood (I am funny about stuff like that).

delma_paulk 07-09-2012 09:55 AM

I've been looking for one of those wooden fold=up drying racks to use for this; so far no luck, but still looking.

Good score, dela

maryel 07-09-2012 10:36 AM

Lucky you, that's great!

QandE2010 07-09-2012 11:47 AM

You could use that for just a little while (if you decide for some reason it didn't fit the purpose that you purchased it for), then toss it and not feel guilty. If you do that, send it my way, pleaalse. I love it.

nygal 07-09-2012 11:52 AM

Great find and great idea for its use!!

southernmema 07-09-2012 01:06 PM

Brilliant....I have a cheap airing rack and currently have it full of strips for my future DIL string quilt.

Scakes 07-09-2012 06:18 PM

I haven't seen a 50% off sale at a thrift store in quite a long time. :-(

Great find! Good luck with your bargello.
