The girls followed me to my sewing room today, each of them had a go sewing rows of blocks together. They all loved it and can't wait to do the rest tomorrow. Annie is 11, Mary is 7 and Sara is 6. I am hoping to have avid quilters in the family!!! Was so fun to watch them. They were so "proud" of their perfect 1/4 seams.

That is so nice. I keep hoping someone in my family would pick up on my quilting and crafting but so far no luck. I even bought my girls sewing machines one year but they just collect dust. I keep waiting.

I do all my straight sewing on my featherweight. I have a guage that you put the needle thru and then lay down my good old standby-moleskin- to place beside the little ruler thing and it gives you a great scant 1/4 inch. Besides that I always, before a teacher in class gave us this little gadget, alwys measured the scant 1/4 inch with a regular ruler by putting the foot down, the needle on the 1/4 inch line or a hair less and then the Mole skin. My newer machines have the 1/4 inch foot but I never seem to be happy with the seam but I know I can use the moleskin but after so many years I go back to my featherweights. Just be consistant with all the pieces. So what if they are a little over the 1/4 inch are the quilt police going to come look for you! Enjoy quilting.

That is terrific! My sister and I are the youngest members at our little group at church. I am 55. It is wonderful to hear that a next generation of quilters is appearing.

What fun for you all!

My girls didn't start sewing until I gave them their own machines when they were in their 20s. One is a more industrious crafter than the other, but they both enjoy it.
