I have no idea what the name of the metal plate is, So here goes, I started sewing and had to change a needle and this needle keeps hitting the plate. I then changed to another needle, shut off the machine to reset. No such luck, what have I done wrong now?? The machine is a Husqvarna Vicking. I just don't know what else to do. Can't sew anything! Also I have a Home sewing machine and for some reason again the bobbin keeps bring up estra thread! I guess I won't be sewing ANYTHING, till these issues are fixed. Any words of advise, suggestions, tips, hints... I'll try anything at this point!!

Stuck!!!

Are you putting the needle in correctly?

My machine gets cranky if I put the flat side of the needle facing the wrong direction - or I don't push it far enough up into the needle holder thing.

I don't know much about your particular machine, but do you have an adjustment where you can move the needle to the right or left just a bit?

Sounds like the needle is in wrong and sitting too far to the right or left side. Also, make sure it is up as far as it goes, hold with left hand and tighten with right so it does not slip.

I don't know about your machine. On my machine, I have to turn a knob to put the needle in the right position, left position or middle position. I don't know if there is anything on your machine to adjust the position of the needle or not. Is there a shop in your area that you can find that services &/sells Husqvara machines? They may be able to help you over the telephone or let you know if it needs to go to the shop.
I know how frustrating it is when you can't get your machine to work properly.

Have you tried changing the needle? Maybe it got a bit bent. I had the same problem a while ago. I have a Viking Rose. I had been sewing some badges onto towels for a friend & thought I had really messed up my machine when the needle started hitting the metal plate. However I just used it today & it's running smoothly again. I still had a problem with the walking foot & the needle hitting the plate when I used my favorite stitch #17, so I purchased a new waking foot. I figured I wore the one from 1996 out.

the Husqvarnas are really picky about how you put the needle in. It must have the flat part of the shaft facing the back of the machine and be pushed well up.

If that is not the problem, have you shifted the position of the needle so it is sewing left or right of the needle. If you do this and do not have the correct foot on the machine, it will hit the foot and break.

I accidentally brought my needled down on the head of a safety pin while FMQ at full tilt.
(There was only one on the entire quilt & I found it. :( )
Had to have the timing reset at the repair shop.

I have a Husqvarna Vyking and that happened to me.
My problem was that the plate where the feed dogs
are kinda slipped out of place a little bit and all I did
was push it back in place. Maybe this is what is wrong
with yours.

Suggest you get machine ASAP to repair shop. You can SERIOUSLY damage machine. Adjustment should be made by tech. What type of machine?
