My new Martelli roundabout stinks

Instant headache when I opened it. It's airing out in the garage right now but I really don't want to stink up the garage either. Please tell me that smell will go away. It smells very strongly like contact cement or something similarly noxious.

On mine it took a short time to disappear. A friend of mine put hers in a plastic bag with a box of baking soda and sealed it for a week. She swears that it worked.
We both love the roundabout.

I'm thinking about putting it outside for a few hours but I don't want to ruin it. It's windy but also sunny.

Oh real nice. I ordered a 60mm rotary cutter plus spare blades. They sent me the 60mm blades but the cutter is a 45mm and there is no phone number on their website. I sent a message so I hope they don't take long to fix this.

Found the number on the back of the cutter pkg and called. They're sending me the correct one. I decided to keep the 45 for a little under half price. I think they saw me coming.

I hope you get the smell to go away. If it doesn't will they let you return it without to much of a hassle?

I've heard (but can't confirm) that with some mats the smell never goes away. I think I would be asking them for a replacement.

If it's still bad on Monday I'll call and see what they say.

eta: since it's not 5 yet I decided to go ahead and call. They said sometimes if they bag it too quickly it will stink but it should be a lot less after being out for a day or so and that it's okay to put it outside as long as it isn't in direct sunlight. So out it will go (my cats will probably be riding on it out there).

I could smell it before getting it out of the bag. I can't imagine whoever packs the boxes couldn't smell it but maybe they're so used to it they don't notice it.

I think it is something that they use - it seems all of them have it, unless it has been sitting in a store for a while. When I got my new Olfa mats I had the same issue, some time outside (out of the sun/heat) cured it.

Try putting it in a large bag with dry cat littler good smelling kind of course. It really does help.
