Wooo Hooo, I got a Firmie in the post today from my very own Quilty Angel. This was such an unexpected Firmie I am totally bowled over and would like to publically thank my Angel.
There was a whole bunch of really lovely fabric inside, plus some corn products, because she was telling us of her family recipe (posted in the Recipe thread) and I happened to mention that whilst we had corn on the cob here, we didn't have corn cream and flour - now I can cook up a batch of this lovely sounding recipe and taste it for myself.
Finally, she also included three of her very own originals which I will treasure. Thank you so much - you have been incredibly generous, my Angel.

Contents of my Firmie. Such lovely goodies, Thank you Angel

The corn is so sweet and I bet unexpected too. A taste of America.

Sheila Elaine 09-29-2009 12:33 PM

Lacelady, I know who your Angel is because I read her page & I'm the one who brought up cornbread & we got in that conversation & she did the recipe. I have to print it for my dau-in-law because she makes those casseroles & they are wonderful - she does a variety of different ones. Enjoy every drop of your cooked recipe & let America know how much you like CORN. The first settler's learned about corn from the Native American Indians and there are depictions of the First Thanksgiving that was celebrated between them.

Get in your kitchen & enjoy! Oh, the fabric & 3 items are swell, also.

I've had a great day, because not only did I get my Angel's Firmie, but I also got my Doll Quilt squishy too, so it has felt like my birthday. (I just don't want to be an extra year older).

sewjoyce 09-29-2009 04:39 PM

WOW -- really nice!

Sheila Elaine 09-29-2009 04:57 PM

Lesley, when is your B'day? Two pkgs in one day, yes it must be your B'day or close to it. You're gonna simply fall in love with the corn recipe. Take the cornbread muffin mix box to your grocery store (or wherever you shop) & see if you can get them to import some for you & your friends. We eat cornbread with most any kind of soups & vegetables. My favorite is pinto beans & cornbread, but you may eat different kinds (black eyed peas, chick peas, etc.) What kind of vegetables do you eat there in Ireland?

Iluv2quilt 09-30-2009 05:21 AM

That is so very nice of your Quilty Angel!! I'm glad you get to try corn!!The fabric and potholders are beautiful!!

mimisharon 09-30-2009 06:04 AM

Oh, Lacelady, you so deserve the squishies and hard squishies. Hope you enjoy the cream corn. My Roy used to "fry" corn cut off the cob in lots of bacon grease, then add the milk and flour to it to cream it. I couldn't eat that much bacon fat and he obviously shouldn't have either, but he did love it with lots of salt and pepper and fried cornbread.

Enjoy your beautiful fabric.

Hugs,
Sharon
