My Pfaff 2144 is going electronically crazy--can anyone help???
 

My Pfaff 2144 is giving me fits---mostly taking up to 45 seconds to "boot" when I turn it on. And it's started to "go slow" without the button being pushed, and NOT go into reverse when the button IS being pushed. (That is more annoying than the booting up problem!) It's been into our local dealer 4 times and he says nothing's wrong with it. Now he's not returning my calls. I even video-ed the problem with my cell phone. Anyone else had similar issues? What did you do?

Did it act up with him? What explanation did he offer? How old is the machine? Calla

Could be the electronics and a new board isn't cheap or easy to come by. Mine pulled a fast one in embroidery. My reverse button can be flaky.

When you say boot up - do you mean the machine actually turning on or the screen coming on? Have you changed whatever you are plugging it into? Sometimes the power strips go bad. Do you have another cord or can you borrow one? If you mean turn on at all, could be the cord or power switch. If you mean the screen, that might be the board.

Do you have another dealer in the area who can diagnose electronic problems? Especially connections?

Contact the manufacturer. Send them the video, tell them the dealer won't return your calls, and ask for a referral to another dealer.

I had a similar issue with a vacuum cleaner. I documented all my issues, the number of times I had been in to the dealer (14 times in 12 months), his responses, and the proof I gathered showing that he never touched the machine despite telling me he had fixed it - multiple times. They sent me a new machine and I believe the dealer lost his dealership. I don't know that your situation is as severe as mine, but the manufacturer might be interested in knowing about the lack of response from the dealer, and they may be able to troubleshoot the machine for you.

My embroidery machine refused to stop sewing when I lifted my foot off the pedal - thought it was a fault with the pedal or cord connection. Someone suggested it may be a fuse in the power box on the house - figure that one out? But sure thing, a couple of days later a fuse blew and had to be replaced, and no more problems with the machine. Hope your problem is as small, so good luck.
