Hi, I bought a babylock last winter and really like it. It is very quiet ( we have a small home and the sewing room is right over our bedroom)so it helps when the early bird strikes and I am sewing while dh is sleeping.
That being said, Consumer Reports rates sewing machines, they consistently rate the Brother Project Runway machine very high. Maybe you are speaking of a long arm, of which I know nothing, but happy machine hunting!

I also recommend get a better used machine.

I have a Singer 7470, It does everything but dance. The more I use it, the more I am convinced it's not the best thing for quilting. My straight stitch looks more like a design type stitch. Had a regular repairman work on it and it's just not the same. Guess I need to get it to a Singer dealer. I MUCH perfer my old Kenmore {Sears brand}, It's quiet and runs well, but----IT needs work too. Today is my birthday and I refuse to worry about mine--GOOD LUCK finding your machine!!!

Janome gives you more bang for your buck. Singer is not consistent. Some are good some are lemons.

That is exactly what my sewing machine store told me. He could name the models that were outstanding.

My Singer that i loved so much went out last week. i was so upset. My son informed me he was getting me a new machine for xmas. So after a lot of research i bought a Viking Emeral 118. I love it it has a lot of nice features...Also I was told the Singer has plastic gears. The Viking gears are medal. Just thought I would pass this on.........Good luck shopping.

Singers are now made in China, and are made very cheap. They USED to be a good machine, but not anymore.
