I am just going to buy a cheap one just to get the sewing done that I need to finish. I will give it to my Grandaughter as she has been doing so well with the sewing. My husband is going to buy the Jenome for me......aaaaaaaaa can't wait till Christmas now!!!

That's a win-win solution!

I have a Brother PC420 Project Runway and it is the most wonderful machine I've ever had. Check it out on Amazon:

Check the pawn shop. (I'm not kidding. These are hard times and machines are expensive. they might have something good for not much investment.)

That's the link I posted. He has some pretty machines. If you didn't look earlier, you just have to "visit" so you know what people are talking about.

I would go vintage....you can't beat an old machine for reliability and easy servicing. But, if it's whizz-bang technology you want, get a new one...whatever you decide, looks like you've come up with a nice solution (and your grandaughter may become a quilter too.).

New Singers just arent made like they used to be. I havent had any luck with them. Love my Brother machine, fits all my needs and it was less than 100.00. If I had the money, I'd definitely get a vintage machine too, because they are the real workhorses.

You also might try ebay.
I see good machines going for the fraction of the price and you can get it before Christmas.

Glad to hear you love this-I think it is the one I am getting! I have a Brother Star 230 E now, which I bought from Australia when I was living over-seas and I love it, but have to use it on a transformer (we are 110 elect-they are 220). A couple of features I really want in a new machine is the knee lift, auto thread cutter, and a machine blanket stitch. I know it has a knee lift and auto thread cutter, but does it have a blanket stitch?
