Congrats on your new machine. Sounds like you have a decent starter machine.

Honey, I like your machine. It will be a great starter machine. My first on was a bottom of the line Brother. DD paid less than fifty for it. It served me well for a number of years. I loved it.

Skeat provided the above link. If you go to this site you can read reviews from others who have purchased this machine. They are mixed & if you read them you might be able to decide if this is for you. The Brother sewing machines has some models in this same price range & they seem to be more reliable. My opinion. Good luck :-)

Congrats on your new machine. Take caare of it, and it will take care of you.

For quilting you don't need fancy this or that. A walking foot is nice for when you actually quilt with it, a 1/4" (6mm) foot is good for putting together the top. All the rest is fluff (not needed).

I have been quilting for 3 years now and still haven't sewn a single zigzag with my machine. Someday I might make a crazy quilt and break that record. For 99% of your work, a simple straight stitch is all you are ever going to use. The one thing I wish my used Bernina 830 had on it was a needle up/down switch. That just tells the machine where to leave the needle when you take your foot off the foot pedal.

Best of luck,
tim in san jose

Not silly at all, and your English is fine. That's how you'll learn, and it is fun to share.
