So I decided to make my nephew a quilt using collegiate fabric. I wanted to do a pattern from my 'Layer Cake, Jelly Roll & Charms' quilt book. I chose a layer cake pattern so the college fabric would be the focus. I cut ALL the fabrics. On the very first block I realized the blocks are to be set on point. The fabric is directional, so there is NO WAY it would look right with the college theme being sideways! Back to the drawing board with twenty 10" squares and a lot of coordinating 2 1/2" strips  CAN'T BELIEVE I DID THIS. |
Make them into shadow boxes with the cordinating fabric it will look just fine!

Put them on point anyway. Going all directions, not just one. It's college-say they're tipsy!

I guess a few of us have made a 'smart' mistake by mistake. :)

In quilting there are no mistakes, just design options.
