Hello all!! I am just bubbling forty with excitement. One of the local stores is running a mystery quilt. I signed up (you can never get enough free stuff) and am on a roll. I've never done one before, but the lady assures me that you only have to have basic skills for this one.

The clues are free, which does make me question the copyright stuff. It's 6 pieces of the puzzle and they plan a party when everyone's done. I can't wait for the next "clue" to come out on Saturday!! Each "clue" is released every 2 weeks until August 23. The tops have to be done and they'll be put on display in October. If people actually finish all the way through and make a quilt, they will also be put on display and voted on whose is the best. I don't care about the contest, I just care about the fun!!

Mystery quilts are alot of fun to do. There were a bunch of us from this forum that worked on mystery quilt online. We had alot of fun with it. I have all my pieces completed, the mystery was revealed a couple weeks ago. I just need to find the time now to actually assemble all the pieces into an actual quilt!

Have fun with your mystery and don't forget to post photos when you get it done!!!

Cheers! :)

I have never done a mystery quilt, but always thought it sounded like a lot of fun. Be sure to post pics of yours so we can share the mystery with you!!

I did a mystery- it was my first project dealing with points, it was easy & it is beautiful, I need to get a digital camera. I love the colours I used, batiks in purples & blues & greens I am giving it this summer.
Good Luck, Have FUNN !!!

Does anyone out there know the copyright rules on if you receive a mystery quilt pattern for free at a store, can you then share it with someone else so they can also do the mystery??

I was thinking about posting all 6 clues here so some of you could do the mystery along with me.

I just don't want to break any rules.

Have fun with the mystery quilt. Don't get all wrapped up in the copyright worries... If a quilt shop is sponsoring the mystery quilt, its actually their problem. Just enjoy the journey. :):)

No you cannot share it with a group or guild or whatever. I don't think the copright police will come and get you if you share with one friend however. Posting here I wouldn't risk it. Who is the designer of the mystery quilt?
On a happy note I love mystery quilts in general, I usually end up getting quilt I would have passed on if I had a choice.

I feel hinky sharing the mystery pattern here. Talked to the storeowner and they were less than thrilled.

Will post different pics when I have them!!!

That sounds like fun!

I can't post the patterns, but I double and triple checked and I CAN post photos. I talked to the store on Saturday and got the ok for some stuff...just posting the pattern in such a public place. What a bummer!!!

When I have pics I'll post. I'll probably do all my cutting this week and start piecing next week.
