Neat ideas! The way you look at fabric scraps is the way I look at fabric yardage. I have scrappers in my guild who enjoy my scraps way more then I do so they aren't wasted.

Plus I used scraps of the produce netting plus some very tiny trimmings to make the comb of the chicken. The directions for making this chicken came from another member of this board. Such wonderful people here.
http://www.quiltingboard.com/tutoria...n-t143250.html Now aren't you so creative with the plastic produce netting in the comb...too cute! What have you stuffed yours with? Foggy ~ icy up North how's the weather in your neck of the woods :0) |
Very clever ideas. I do use my Crystal Light containers to store various small items. We do need to be reminded to recycle in out disposable society !!

What a nice post! Very generous of you to take the time to write and post pictures of it all. Thank you.

Wow! I could learn some lessons from you. Guess I'm lazy about using my leftovers and scraps. Love the project made with selvedges.

jI keep reading that you should NOT put your threads and tiny scraps out for birds as they do not dry out as fast as natural fibers and the little birds can become tangled in the threads or stay wet for too long after a rain and die. You can also make "crumb" blocks with the smallest scraps and they add up fast.

thanks for all the great ideas. 95% of my stash is scraps from other quilters.

I don't save scraps per se but they are always laying around or on the floor. I use them to test sewing or serger stitches. Also for machine appliqué in the hoop or sewn. I think about saving selvedges but I have several jobs and my sewing room already looks like a bomb went off in there so I doubt I'd do much with them. Sometimes you have to let go. I recycle whenever I can and commend all you super savers.

You are amazing, I am just starting to accumulate scraps so you have given me some wonderful ideas. My problem is finding time to sew like I would like to much less use up scraps.
