My wonderful Summer!!
 

I'm so excited!! I have the entire summer off with pay! I cleaned my sewing room which I have been putting off for months and months now. I pulled out some UFOs and sorted thru to find the right one to finish. Best part is my hubby is a locomtive engineer and spends every second day and night out of town running the passenger train. I can get up in the morning (when I want) have my coffee and sew all day long if I want. Yesterday I never even got dressed! I have also wanted to try painting, went out and bought some canvases and paints etc and paint one day and sew the next. Have one painting done and working on a second. As for quilts, one UFO almost done, just need to bind and add the beading, voila done!! In two weeks will be heading to the cottage for three weeks. No power up there so will pack some hand sewing, painting supplies and my camera. I feel like a little kid who has been fed a pot of coffee on Christmas Eve!!! But the down side is a week after I went on my leave of absence, 45 people were laid off with no return date. Not sure I will have a job when I go back at the end of Septmeber. If I am laid off, I will then be on 15 weeks of Employment Insurance, which pays half of what I'm making now. Will have to start looking for a new job in the near future. Will cross that bridge if and when I come to it.

The first part of the summer on full pay sounds delightful. We can trade places if you want. Enjoy the freedom of crafting days and not getting dressed and show pictures of your accomplishments. The three weeks at the cottage sounds wonderful. No wonder you feel so exuberant! The uncertainty of the job is a tough one, but as you say, deal with it if and when necessary.

Enjoy your time. Sounds like you are excited with lots of plans. You can't put a price on time.

Fun! I don't change what I want or don't want to do if DH is home or gone so I feel this way everyday. LOL.

Enjoy your special days this summer. And of course, don't worry about what might happen later :)

My feelings exactly! Just sew &/or paint up a storm & enjoy, enjoy, enjoy. Then do what Scarlett O'Hara used to do (& which my Mother swore by)... "I'll worry about it tomorrow". Tomorrow for worrying & today for playing! You go, girl! And post pictures!

I do understand the enthusiastic reaction to a summer without time commitments as I'm a teacher and do love summer time. Perfect for quilting!

Sounds like you have a wonderful time ahead of you and that you have put everything in proper prospective in regards to your job. Don't let it ruin the gift of your extended summer vacation. I retired the end of March and am enjoying my first summer off since I was 14. Not crazy about the heat but it's the only thing I have to deal with....can definitely deal with it. I'm a true believer that things work out the way they are supposed to.
