A mysterious Pattern

About 5 years or so ago I bought a book that was nothing but a bunch of baby quilts. This book has long since disappeared. One of the quilts was a 9 patch pattern where every other block was an applique of a sheep and lamb. I have no problems with the nine patch. It's the applique I'm hunting for. ( and you thought this was going to be easy. Ha so did I) I'm looked all over google for this pattern and can't find what I'm looking for. Basically it's just a silhouette of a baby sheep. No fancy faces or anything. Just a silhouette. Any help finding this would be welcomed. ( i might be able to scramble for a bag of home made cookies for this)

Have you tried to google coloring book pictures? You may find something there you can adapt.

Comice 10-21-2013 08:01 AM

Could this be it?

I have a sheep i used in an alphabet animal quilt. It's just a fluffy sheep from the side, with stick legs. You could make a smaller one for the baby. PM me your email and I'll find the file.

If you have it there will be cookies I promise!

No that isn't it. I didn't have any coloring on it at all. Just a white sheep or lamb on a color background

Just went through my patterns and came up with Jeanette Crews Designs by Ursula Michael and Flock of Dreams design that was in Quiltmaker Magazine November/December 2002. I could save them into my computer and/or make copies and mail them to you. PM me if you are interested.

I did some snooping and found the designer is named Jeanette Crews. If anyone has this pattern please let me know.

I made the McCall's pattern a couple of years ago and it came out really cute. If I can find the picture, will post it.

Elise1 10-22-2013 12:45 PM

I think this might be a picture of the pattern on etsy.

Have you thought about using templates used for children's colouring projects. My kids are all grown up now but I kept these templates in case of grandkiddies, and they have been very useful for applique work. They usually have a dog, pig, lamb, donkey, cat, elephant and bear, I even have a foal and bambi.

I went to Amazon.com and searched for Jennifer Crews baby quilts and this is what I came up with:

Hope this is the one,,,,,,

I would google "Easter quilts" to find a lamb outline to try and duplicate, or search free paper piece lamb.

I hope you find what you are looking for. I am so glad you asked this question. I've enjoyed looking at all the answers and have seen some great inspirations. Good luck! Please show us your final piece.

Four Twin Sisters has a website with lots of appliques. Can't recall the name of the website.

google cookie cutters. I found just the shape I needed for a crawling baby to make a baby sun bonnet sue quilt and I love the results.

I looked and I don't even have a lamb pattern I thought I did, sorry. Hope you find one.

I have a book named Quilting for Baby by Jeanne Stauffer & Sandra L. Hatch. It has two quilts with sheep. The first one is called Sweet Dreams by Julie Weaver. However, there is no applique, just fussy cut fabric with sheep. The second is Little Lamb Baby Quilt by Chris Malone it does have an applique lamb but don't know if it would be legal for me to post a scan of it. The ISBN

continued .... must have hit the wrong key, sorry. The ISBN # for the Quilting for Baby book is 978-1-59217-234-4 (soft cover edition) and sows a web site of DRGbooks.com. Good Luck!
