I just received these from my sister. Our grandmother hand pieced them. She passed away in the 1930's so it was probably sometime between turn of century & 1930. Does anyone know what the pattern is? I have 52 blocks about 10 inches each. I can't find the pattern anywhere on the internet.

No idea the name of the pattern, but boy they are lovely. Gives you the idea of a wagon wheel. Love to know what it is called, TOO!

Blessings,
Ruth

That looks like the dresden plates our members have been posting.
I can just see her fingers holding the needle doing those stitches. So precious.

Look at this link. http://www.patternsfromhistory.com/c...sden-plate.htm

I keep saying I want to get that book!! Thanks so much!! I am planning to put it together 6 by 8 blocks. The fabric is in great shape. My sister called & said I was about to throw these in the garbage because they are so ugly but I thought you might want them....just goes to show you...one sister's trash another sister's treasure!! Thanks again, I am so thrilled to have a name for this pattern!

Does anyone know where I can try to check the dates of the fabric? They are probably feedsacks because my grandfather owned a general store where he sold everything including feed & seed.

Eddie 06-09-2010 04:42 PM

"Snake in the Hollow" -- I like that! :D

I rarely use the book. I found a digital version of it somewhere "Blockbase"--It says Electric Quilt on it when I start it up--and I don't think I've looked at the book since.
