My Janome is only 1 month old and when I tried to sew tonight, the fabric wouldn't move. It isn't that I dropped the feed dogs by mistake. Before this problem I didn't even know where the feed dog lever was located. Anyhow, when I now try to move the lever, nothing happens. Shouldn't I see the feed dog drop? Any suggestions as to why my fabric won't move? TIA

Try turning it off for a few minutes and then back on. Then try moving the feed dogs again.

Turn the handwheel, this should engage the feeddogs.

Is there a bobbin threader that might cause it not to go. I have done this with my machine not janome but can happen to others.

I've had that happen with my Janome 9000 when I have switched from FMQ to regular sewing. Sometimes just touching the pad to the right of the machine wasn't enough. I had to use the switch on the machine to raise the feed dogs, and no I really couldn't tell that they had moved by looking, but I certainly could tell when I tried to move the fabric. Good luck.

Which foot are you using? If you are using the accufeed, make sure
the dual feed device is properly engaged. I've had this happen when
changing feet. It just keep stitching in the same spot.

Thank you so much!!! After reading your comment, I checked my machine and found I did not engage the Accufeed foot. Problem solved! Thanks everyone for all the help. I just love this board!
