Please help me know the name of this block...hand pieced in about 1935. Thanks!

THAT IS surprising. It looks too modern for that time frame. Didn't find any info using Google.

Hmm...looks like 4 small blocks make up a ring....like an arc appliqued on the corner of the block, then 4 = circle? Just my guess...

Good guess. Names are: "Fair Play", "Quarter Turn" published in Woman's World 1907, "The Pig Pen" publ.Kansas City Star 1939, and "Wedding Ring" 1927 in Dakota Farmer. Was shown as a two color block with two quarters done in black with white arcs and the other two quarters do in white with black arcs. Then set together like a four patch.

Looks like your quilter chose to do all the quarter blocks alike. Makes me wonder if it might have been intended as a wedding quilt. You are lucky to have it, whatever its story.

Forgot to say this block is made with curved piecing, not applique. Bet this block would make a gorgeous scrappy quilt! Might have to play around with this one and see what I can come up with! I just love all the antique blocks!

Actually, this could be done with templates...I think it's called back porch...I know I have the set: arcs and filler sides...among my " collection". Did one in batiks scrappy...but circles were broken...modern, for dd.....kinda fun!

Name - or identify? If we're naming, I like Cheerios too.
