Could anybody please tell me the name of this star block? I made this quilt a long time ago and am just writing up the pattern, but cannot for the life of me remember the name of the block. I thought rather than spending ages looking on the Internet, somebody here would know it immediately and save me time.

I recall seeing this on Quilterscache.com but do not recall the specific name at this time.
I think it is called Twisted Star but not sure.
I don't know but just wanted to tell you that I LOVE your quilt using plaids!
I was gonna say a spinning star but not entirely sure.
In one of my block books, it is called twin star.
Love the quilt!
I don't know the name of the pattern but I love the quilt. Great fabrics in it.

It's like a more simplified Twin star or a more complicated Friendship Star. Whatever the name, it's a BRILLIANT use of plaids. Love it! |
Maggie Malone's book (5,500 Quilt Block Designs) has it as Twin Star.
I looked all through Barbara Brackman's Encyclopedia of Pieced Quilt Blocks and the only one that comes close is Air Castle aka Towers of Camelot but yours is a stripped down version. I have made your block many times so I know I have it somewhere. Twin Star & Star Spin both sound like plausible names to me.

On Quilters Cache, it is the Double Friendship Star. Quilt in a Day calls it a Star for All Seasons. It is one of my favorites to make.

It is so good to see so many replies and that so many have gone to such pains for me by looking in books etc. I knew I could rely on you all. Now I have so many options for a name. I will keep listening to you all and come up later with the name that I decide it should probably be. Or maybe I should just call it Star Block???? :?

Double Friendship Star makes perfect sense when it is done with a light center--it would be perfect to write well wishes in.
